Zambia Partnership
In May of 2008, OKC First sent a Work and Witness team to Livingstone, Zambia to finish a church building started by a West Virginia team. What we found was need, but above need we saw...amazing faith, hope and love and also the amazing opportunity for a partner that looks like us. We came home completely changed by the experience and persistently drawn to the idea of a ten year commitment in partnership with the Church of the Nazarene in Zambia. We want simply to be a part of what God is doing in Africa. He is there! Active and moving into homes, lives and life or death situations. We want to be a part of all that is going on there and returned to Zambia in 2009 to determine what is next.
Out of the past year of prayer and planning and our recent visit in May 2009, has come the development of LUKA International Foundation. This effort will exist to raise funds and awareness for project sites and provide the venue for our community to engage in dynamic partnership with the Zambian District. Our hope is to partner in Kingdom building strategies already in motion, and provide a supportive relationship that furthers the vision of local church ministry in Zambian communities. Areas of ministry such as micro-enterprise projects, clean water, health care, in-home AIDS caregiver programs, Orphan caregiver programs, schools, child sponsorship, Pastors as Community Leaders training and bricks and mortar efforts are areas we see opportunity for us to jump in. There are many, many ways we can participate, and we intend to give you the opportunity to go with us! We hope you will hear the call to Africa and join us, our next team is forming now... are you on the 2010 team? |
