LITERACY AND ESL AT OKC FIRST CHURCH…
Literacy AND ESL classes at OKC First Church meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-8 pm. We currently have 12 adults attending literacy and 16 adults attending ESL! These adult students often come straight from work and don’t have a chance to eat or drink. We have been known for being gracious hosts and providing a “happy and safe” environment for learning.  Thank you for making this happen!
Hosts are needed for March 16, 23 and 30. This is an excellent time to meet these wonderful adults and to also catch up on reading, crafts or paperwork while they are in class.
We also need volunteers who are willing to bake at least 3 dozen cookies or cupcakes April 13, 15 & 30. Since we have almost 30 students, we need two people per evening (Tues & Thur) who can bring treats. Treats need to be at the church before 4:30pm and should be marked “for literacy and ESL classes.” Please contact Paula Meder at paulameder@gmail.com or indicate your date to volunteer on the friendship folder.
PICTORIAL DIRECTORIES ARE HERE!...
The pictorial directories are available for $10 during the week at the church office. They are also available on CD for $10. Email Ryan Martin (ryanm@okcfirstnaz.org) to place your CD order.
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME…
Don’t forget to set your clocks forward on Saturday night this week!
AN EVENING WITH…
continues Sunday night at 6pm with an emphasis on "Social Justice from a Catholic Perspective." Paul Stokell, director of religious education at St. Francisof Assisi church in OKC, will be our special speaker. Stokell coordinates all Religious Education and Faith Formation efforts of Saint Francis of Assisiparish, a community of nearly 1000 families in the central Oklahoma City, OK area. His responsibilities include supervision of PREP (Parish Religious Education Program) for students in Kindergarten through High School, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (through which persons aged seven and older join the Catholic Church), and numerous ongoing Adult Faith Formation offerings. He occasionally assists with preparation and execution of liturgical events, external communications (public affairs) and archdiocesan (internal) communications. In addition to overseeing the Parish Religious Education Committee and collaborating with the Parish Pastoral Council, Stokell works with two direct reports (a Secretary and a Coordinator of Religious Education) and other members of the Parish Pastoral Staff in maintaining and developing these programs for members of the parish across the entire life cycle. For more information, please contact Lance Schmitz.
